The evolution and experience of TSI began back in the 60's on Chicago's south side at Hydro- Motive, 1851 East 95th Street. Even then the by-line was Manufacturers of the World's Finest and Fastest Racing Transmissions and their slogan "How does it feel to be a winner? Ask the man who uses a HYDRO-MOTIVE Transmission!" One of the men you can ask is "Ohio" George Montgomery. Another is Arnie "the Farmer"Beswick. Or Doug Thorley, or Dale Creasy. And there were many more including Warren Johnson, Jack Ditmars, Gabby Bleeker, and Palmer Lazarus. Many of which are still racing and active today.

Over the years the name was changed to TSI Transmission Specialties Inc. and now known widely as the popular TSI,which is also a registered trademark. In 1970 the business moved to the north side of Chicago at 3350 North Southport. Then in 1986 to the western suburbs at 867 Addison Street, Elmhurst, until 1999 to our present quarters at 14 Industrial Road unit B, in Addison, Illinois.

Very few proprietors of Racing Transmission establishments are real drag racers themselves. But Don Stanley has been actively participating very successfully from the very earliest years. And still does. When you call Don about an application, like a Powerglide in a Mustang? Chances are he's done it, and it wins! And when you win with a TSI transmission, TSI will support you. Ask Bob Curran, 2002 NMCA EZ Street World champion. Ask Brad Kessel, 2002 IHRA Div 5 Top Sportsman Champion. Or ask Tony Orts, 2002 Edelbrock Pro Series Xtreme Street Champion.

Over the years TSI has built automatic transmissions for Chevys, Fords, Mopars, RV's, Tow vehicles, Off-road racers, Stadium trucks, sports cars, and lately awesome 9 second E.T. Toyota Supras.
What's next? Who knows.
